Skin
Alcohol can dehydrate the skin and impede circulation, thus robbing the skin of moisture and nutrients. It can lead to broken or distended capillaries, especially over the nose and cheeks. It also depletes the body of vitamins and minerals needed for a healthy complexion. Recent studies have shown that women are more susceptible to the ill effects of alcohol than men. Alcohol can also widen blood vessels near the surface of the skin, causing a loss of heat from the body. Excess use can make the skin feel flushed or clammy.
