As this module has shown, using policy, enforcement, education, communication, and collaboration, individuals working in prevention have the tools to create or apply prevention programs in the community. Effective programs, such as the SAMHSA-designated Model Programs, have been demonstrated to be effective and can be replicated by communities.
Module Three features case studies and suggested strategies for policy, enforcement, education, communication, and collaboration. These examples demonstrate the many ways in which environmental strategies can be used to create positive changes in the environment affecting the prevalence of substance abuse, violence, and other related public health concerns.
