Evaluation: A Working Definition

Jack summarized the definitions. He came up with a working definition and scrawled it on a post-it, just to sum things up:

Evaluation is the systematic collection and analysis of data needed to make informed decisions about a specific program or intervention.

So, what exactly does evaluation mean to Jack? Translating the definition to his own program, here's what Jack comes up with.

Question Answer
What is evaluation? Evaluation is the systematic collection and analysis of data (or in plain English, "information") about program results. I'm looking at the changes among the kids who participate in Cool After School.
Why am I doing it? I have to as a condition of my grant award. More importantly, the evaluation will help show whether Cool After School is effective.
What will I do with the information? Bookends. But seriously, the evaluation will provide information I can use to improve and promote Cool After School.
