The Evaluation Cycle

Here's a quick review of the steps in the evaluation cycle:

  1. Conceptualize the evaluation project.
  2. Design the evaluation project and the methodology.
  3. Hire and train staff.
  4. Choose and test instruments and procedures.
  5. Collect data.
  6. Analyze and report data.
  7. Modify the prevention system based on the data.
  8. Prepare to re-evaluate.

In Evaluation 101, we discussed all eight steps. Here, we pick up and expand on Step 5: Collecting Data, and we'll also expand a bit on Step 6: Analyzing and Reporting Data. These two steps are somewhat more complex than the others, but they are in many ways the heart of your evaluation.
