Data Analysis
After you collect the data, the big question is, What do I do with it? First, develop an analysis plan. The analysis plan is the road map to making sure the data you gather are organized and analyzed in a way that answers the evaluation questions.

Data Analysis Plan
- Write the research question(s) here.
- Who is our audience (who is interested in our results)?
- What descriptive information (e.g., participants, program) will we report?
- What methods for analyzing relationships (for example, the relationship between program participation and grades) will we use?
- Which statistical test of significance (the degree to which a value is greater or smaller than would be expected by chance) will we use?
Here is a sample table for analyzing information on implementation objectives. This matrix could also be used for outcomes.
| Objective | Actual | Differences? | If Yes, Reasons | Barriers | Facilitating Factors |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 drug abuse education class sessions per year | 6 sessions the first year | Yes | Delay in startup | Difficulty finding qualified staff | Assistance of volunteers |
| Classes will be given 5 days each week | 5 days a week | No | Problems with crisis intervention youth attending for all 5 days | Staff availability |
