It Won't Happen to Me:

Module 7: Preventing Sexual Assault - Page 8 of 9
Summary
- Women can take many precautions to prevent sexual assault. These include parking in well-lit areas and traveling in groups. In addition, it is important to avoid date rape drugs and excess alcohol use.
- Men can help stop rape in many ways. For example, they can avoid alcohol and drugs that can cloud their judgment. They can also learn to accept "No" rather than seeing it as a challenge. NO MEANS NO MEANS NO.
- Sometimes people have a hard time clearly saying "No." There are messages and actions that mean "No," however. For example, a woman might say "I'm not sure" or "I'm not ready." She may look down, start to cry, or leave the room.
